About Latah Federal Credit
Union
The name "Latah" derives from the language of the Nez
Perce. "La-kah" was their name for the large pines in
the area. " Tah-ol " was
a flour made from camas roots. The present Latah County was originally
part of Nez Perce County, Idaho Territory. Established in 1888,
Latah is the only county in the nation to be formed by an act of
the United States Congress.
Latah Federal Credit Union provides competitive financial services
to all who live, work, volunteer, worship, do business in, or go
to school in Latah County, Idaho and to students enrolled in a
unified program of study at the University of Idaho.
Latah Federal Credit Union is a financial cooperative which means
we can save you money with lower loan rates and fees. We use our
profits to provide you, our member, with the professional, competitive,
and user friendly account services that you need.
Membership
In order to use any of Latah Federal Credit
Union’s services,
you must first become a member of the credit union by paying a
one time membership fee and maintaining a balance of $25.00 in
a dividend earning Regular Savings Account.
You may apply for a loan without becoming a member, but once approved,
you will need to open an account in order to finish the loan. Deposit
are insured to at least $100,000 by NCUA, an agency of the federal government.
